"Stellar night" at Awesome Arts Access Auction

28 November 2013
A Gretchen Albrecht artwork, travel and a luxury resort and golf breakaway for two in Queenstown, dinner for eight in your own home, a Superman tee-shirt signed by Russell Crowe, and tickets to live performance were just some of the items up for grabs in the Awesome Arts Access Auction, held in Wellington last night.

Auctioneer Peter Wedde in actionThis event in CQ Hotels Wellington was Arts Access Aotearoa’s end-of-year fundraising and networking event.

More than 160 people attended the event and bought raffle tickets, put bids on the silent auction items and were persuaded by auctioneer Peter Wedde to bid on items in the live auction.

Comments ranged from "a stellar night", "really professional", "great variety of items" and "loads of fun".

“This was a great opportunity to support the work we do in Wellington and the rest of the country,” says Richard Benge, Executive Director, Arts Access Aotearoa.

Richard Benge, Arts Access Aotearoa, and Sarah Hutchings, Ministry of Culture and Heritage“Individuals, businesses and arts organisations in the Cuba Quarter, Wellington and beyond were extremely generous. There was a fantastic array of items for people to bid on and it was a lot of fun.

"We're already thinking about next year.”

Arts Access Aotearoa patron Miranda Harcourt opened the event while the evening’s auctioneer was Peter Wedde of Peter Wedde Antiques in Kelburn.
