Awesome Arts Access Auction 2016
2 December 2016
"That was the best fun I've had in ages," said one happy punter at the fourth Awesome Arts Access Auction, held at the CQ Hotels Wellington on Thursday 1 December. More than 60 items were up for grabs, including luxury getaways to Taupo, New Plymouth, Auckland and the Wairarapa; dinner dates in fine restaurants; tickets to live performance; a quilt created by women prisoners; fabulous art; and a free landscape consultation.
Richard Benge, Executive Director, Arts Access Aotearoa, said the auction was a great opportunity to have some fun and also support the work the organisation does to increase access to the arts for everyone in Wellington and the rest of the country.
“Individuals, businesses and arts organisations in the Cuba Quarter, Wellington and beyond are always extremely generous and we’re grateful to everyone who donated items for us to auction,” he said. "Everyone seemed to have a good time and this year's auction was the best yet. Auctioneer Peter Wedde did a fantastic job in the live auction and our great volunteers helped keep the evening humming and running smoothly."
Auctioneer Peter Wedde of Peter Wedde Antiques in Kelburn again volunteered his time. A big thanks also to the following auction suppliers: Rodger Fox and members of the Wellington Jazz Orchestra; Streamliner; Graphic Solutions; Out of the Box; Smartpay; Bidvest; Gordon Harris; artist and photographer Eliecer Reverol.
Also thanks to our volunteers: Mayke Bloom, Ania Upstill, Lize Immelman, Eliecer Reverol, Leory Lakamu, Sarah Benge, William Thompson, Dave Wilson, Katie Fallows, Mollie Hobley, Nikoo Namini, Aidan Heffernan, Duncan Armstrong, Nick Smith, France Aziz.
