An exhibition of art by prisoners at the Northland Region Corrections Facility will be held at the Quest Art Space in Whangarei, opening on 26 March.

Art is changing lives inside the walls of Northland Region Corrections Facility. Through their Whakapapa exhibition, the artists explore roots, heritage and colonialism, as well as their whakapapa (genealogy). Who am I? Where did my journey begin? Where am I going?

Inspired by Ara Poutama Aotearoa’s (the Department of Corrections) Hōkai Rangi strategy, Whakapapa marks the beginning of a new journey. Works are for sale. All profits to be donated to Mid-North Hospice.

The gallery is open from 7am to 7pm.
