The next Arts For All Taranaki Network meeting is from 9.30am –12pm on Wednesday 23 May at TSB Showplace, New Plymouth.
Fresh from their first audio described concert at TSB Showplace, New Zealand's leading audio describer Nicola Owen and Chamber Music NZ's Education and Outreach Co-ordinator Sue Jane will join us to discuss audio description in New Zealand and its growing popularity. Come with your questions and ideas about the possibilities of audio description in Taranaki.
What is audio description? Audio describers provide a live, objective description of the action and visual elements of a performance or gallery tour. Description is provided in between pauses in dialogue, sound effects and sometimes music.
Who is the meeting for? Arts, culture and entertainment venue managers and teams, directors, producers, hirers, funders, artists and people in the community with or without a disability who are passionate about accessibility and inclusion in the arts.
9.30am - 10.30am: Nicola Owen and Sue Jane share their experiences of taking audio described Chamber Music around Aotearoa and the possibilities of audio description for Taranaki.
10.30am - 10.50am: Refreshments
10.50am - 11.30am: An opportunity to share your accessible projects, ideas and ask questions
11.30am - 11.55am: Claire will present Arts For All Network examples of accessible and inclusive events and projects happening around the country
11.55am - 12pm: Evaluation form and closing
