Practical tools for creative spaces

This page has information for people working in creative spaces, wanting to set up a creative space in their community or looking for ways to promote your creative space and its artists. We welcome your feedback on the content and what you would like to see included. Creative New Zealand Community Arts Tool Kit

Community arts are created by, with and for a community. Creative New Zealand Community Arts Tool Kit: Keteparaha Mō Ngā Toi Hapori includes videos of New Zealanders sharing their experiences and what they've learned. There are also tip sheets, tools, and examples of successful projects and events to get you inspired. Visit Creative New Zealand's website

Community Development Resource Kit

The Community Development Resource Kit is a comprehensive guide to setting up and running community groups in New Zealand. It is for community, voluntary and iwi/Māori organisations, from small or emerging groups to more established organisations, and all the workers, volunteers and advisors working with these groups. This information is located on the CommunityNet Aotearoa website which is an online hub of resources designed to strengthen organisations and communities.

Exult

Working for communities, Exult offers practical resources (free or at low cost) such as workshops, training courses, event management, marketing, networking and fundraising tools.

Freecycle Network

The Freecycle Network™ is a grassroots and entirely non-profit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about re-use and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers. Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box on the Freecycle homepage or by clicking on “Browse Groups” in its menu bar. There are more than 40 groups in New Zealand – from Invercargill, Gore and Wanaka through to Auckland, Whangarei and Kaipara.

Managing volunteers

Volunteering New Zealand  is an association of volunteer centres, and national and regional organisations with a commitment to volunteering in Aotearoa New Zealand. Its website has best practice guides and 10 resources to support managers of volunteers.
