New Zealand Fringe Festival and Arts Access Aotearoa present a free online accessibility workshop for Deaf, disabled, and non-disabled independent artists, producers, and creatives.
Are you an independent artist putting on a performance this year who wants to increase accessibility for yourself, your team, or your audiences? This session will provide practical tools and ideas to make your show more accessible within any budget or capacity.
Topics include:
- Accessibility information and resources
- Working with venues
- Audio description, NZSL interpretation, relaxed performances, and other options
- Low/no-cost accessibility strategies
- Funding opportunities
- Accessible auditions, rehearsals, and show seasons
The workshop will also cover accessible working practices as and for Deaf and disabled artists, including:
- Resources and support
- Access riders
- Self-advocacy
- Accessible ways of working
Facilitators:
Katie Querin, Arts For All Activator and disabled creative with more than ten years’ experience in theatre and arts accessibility
Stace Robertson, Lead Accessibility Advisor, disabled artist and driver of Taha Hotu Deaf and Disabled Artists Initiative
