Arts Access Aotearoa is looking for two passionate and values-driven individuals to join our Board of Trustees. One of these Trustees will take on the role of Treasurer, bringing expertise in Accounting, Financial Management, or Strategic Finance. At least one of the new Trustees must be based in Auckland.

This is a unique opportunity to join a strong Board focused on best practice governance and meaningful representation of lived experience, and contribute to an organisation that champions inclusion, equity, and creativity in the arts.

Who We Are

At Arts Access Aotearoa, we believe that the arts are for everyone. Our mission is to break down barriers to participation and create opportunities for all people inAotearoa to access and express themselves through the arts. Guided by our tikanga (enduring values) of Mōhiotanga, Rangatiratanga, Whanaungatanga, Kotahitanga, and Kaitiakitanga, we work in partnership with communities to ensure that everyone can share their stories and contribute to a more inclusive society.

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking:

  • A Treasurer with experience in Accounting, Financial Management, or Strategic Finance to provide leadership in financial governance and sustainability. Prior governance experience in a Treasurer role or equivalent senior financial leadership experience in the not-for-profit sector is highly desirable.
  • A second Trustee who brings complementary skills, networks, and perspectives to strengthen the governance of Arts Access Aotearoa. This could include expertise in areas such as fundraising, communications, philanthropy, or community engagement.

For both roles, we welcome applications from individuals who share our passion for equity, creativity, and inclusion, and who are committed to social justice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Whether you’re an experienced board member or new to governance, your skills and values may be the right fit for our Board. Applicants must live in New Zealand, with at least one of the new Trustees based in Auckland.

Your Role as a Trustee:

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Provide governance and strategic oversight to ensure our vision and mission are realised.
  • Support the Executive Director and team in delivering our kaupapa.
  • Help us navigate challenges and opportunities, including financial decision-making and risk management, with a focus on sustainability and strengthening our government and community relationships. 
  • Champion our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and foster equity in all aspects of our governance and operations.
Time Commitment:
  • Approximately 5 Board meetings per year, held on Saturday mornings (3–4 hours each).
  • Involvement in sub-committees and attendance at Arts Access Aotearoa events where possible.
