Join us for Verb's final event of the year, Are you my Ancestor? where we mark International Day of Disabled People with literary flair – and a nod to the past. Crip the Lit writers will share an eclectic line-up of snappy new poems and prose celebrating the rich world of disability ancestors.
Expect a few slyly subversive takes paired with deep, and often hilarious insights.
This event will be NZSL interpreted. Crip the Lit advocates for d/Deaf and disabled writers of Aotearoa having their unique voices, perspectives and stories included and valued in mainstream writing. They are the talent behind some of our most popular LitCrawl events (most recently, 'I'm disabled ... of course I'm a villain!').
Featuring: Bee Trudgeon, Lucy Croft, Erin Donohue, Elizabeth Heritage, Mike Gourley, Wendi Wicks, Al Gray, Henrietta Bollinger, Lee Ota-Calderwood, Alice Mander, Robyn Hunt, Helen Vivienne Fletcher (MC) and Trish Harris.
Join us for this special occasion where we not only close out Verb's year but also raise a toast to these exceptional artists.
The event is FREE, and includes tea and coffee.
