Research participants for theatre and autism study

Are you passionate about theatre and identify as autistic? Or do you work in inclusive theatre practices for autistic individuals? Your experiences could contribute to groundbreaking research as part of a doctoral study on autism and theatre.

Rachel Walsh is a doctoral candidate at The University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education. She is conducting an innovative study exploring the intersection of autism and theatre-making. This research aims to enhance our understanding of drama education and inclusive theatre practices for autistic individuals.

She is seeking two groups of participants for a 60-minute interview:

Autistic theatre-makers:

  • 18 years of age or over
  • Identify as autistic and are involved in theatre-making
  • Have participated in drama classes at school
  • Able to communicate through verbal conversation or written responses
  • Comfortable in a one-on-one interview or email exchange

Theatre facilitators and practitioners:

  • Involved in inclusive theatre and drama practices for autistic people
  • Willing to discuss experiences with autism and drama education.

The research aims to contribute to advancing knowledge in autism and theatre studies; help shape future inclusive theatre practices in New Zealand classrooms; provide a platform for your unique experiences and perspectives.
