Awards 2021 nominations to recognise Arts in Corrections leaders
17 February 2021
Do you want to see leaders working in Arts in Corrections recognised for their work in using the arts as a tool to support the rehabilitation of offenders or their reintegration into the community? This year’s Te Putanga Toi Arts Access Awards, presented by Arts Access Aotearoa, have two Arts in Corrections awards: one recognises Arts in Corrections leaders who exemplify the qualities of Māui and the second recognises the use of tikanga and the arts to encourage a strong cultural identity and pro-social living.
Nominations to this year’s Te Putanga Toi Arts Access Awards close at 5pm on Friday 26 March 2021.
The two Arts in Corrections awards are:
Arts Access Corrections Māui Tikitiki a Taranga Award, recognising an individual who works or volunteers for Corrections, demonstrates the qualities of Māui (innovation, creativity and leadership) and provides arts programmes in a New Zealand prison that reflect cultural inclusion and diversity. These programmes support and encourage pathways into rehabilitation and reintegration.
Arts Access Corrections Whai Tikanga Award, recognising the outstanding contribution of a community group, organisation or individual working in a prison (e.g. Te Tirohanga or Te Mane Wahine) or Community Corrections setting, and using tikanga and the arts to encourage a strong cultural identity and support pro-social living.
Simplifying the nominations process
This year, Arts Access Aotearoa has simplified the awards nomination process to make it easier. You will not have to supply supporting material unless your nominee is shortlisted but be prepared to do so. You will need to provide contact information and answer one question.
If you make a nomination via email do not send a hard copy. For digital nominations please send your nomination as a Microsoft Word document not a PDF for accessibility reasons. Contact Chris Ulutupu, Arts in Corrections Advisor, Arts Access Aotearoa (E: email@example.com T: 04 802 4349) if you have any queries.
Please read the Frequently asked questions and the information included in the nomination form.
