Online hui programme
We have 10 online sessions, one each month February–November, to keep members from across Aotearoa connected and provide a space for learning, connection and sharing.
Three types of online hui:
- Monthly Meetups (regular connection and discussion)
- Webinars (experts presenting on specific topics)
- Guest Q&A sessions (asking Deaf and disabled arts professionals about their lived experience)
Accessibility: NZSL interpreters can be provided by request. Registration closes 7 days before each hui.
Upcoming online hui sessions
Wednesday 16 September, 1:00pm–2:00pm
Guest Q&A: Susan Williams, actor and theatremaker
Susan Williams has years of experience as both a disabled performer and a creator of accessible performances. Susan has chronic illness, is functionally blind and is neurodivergent. As previous co-director of DAT Fest (Disabled Artists Theatre Festival) and writer and performer of an autobiographical solo show Illegally Blind, Susan has a range of lived and professional experience on both sides of the stage. Submit your questions for Susan and finally get the answers you need to make your own arts mahi more accessible, and how you can better welcome and work with disabled artists of all types. All questions will be kept anonymous- so ask anything! Learn more about Susan's work.
Registration: By 4:00pm Wednesday 9 September
Accessibility: NZSL interpreter available by request. Please let me know if you need an interpreter by Tuesday 8 September.
Wednesday 14 October, 12:30pm–2:00pm

Upcoming drop-in sessions
Thursday 1 October: Accessible audition notices, expressions of interest and job opportunities
You've got opportunities open to all, so why aren't Deaf and disabled people applying? Learn how to review and improve the accessibility of your upcoming arts opportunities to better attract Deaf and disabled talent. We'll discuss how set up accessible structure, key language, where to share your opportunities, and how to re-think your roles and opportunities to ensure they are accessible.
Thursday 5 November: Accessible marketing
Are you reaching Deaf and disabled people with your events and opportunities? Learn how to ensure your marketing is as accessible as possible, how to include accessibility in your mainstream marketing, and when direct comms is essential. Katie will share tips and tricks for embedding access into your marketing processes so you can avoid repeating work and double-handling, and so you can grow your Deaf and disabled audiences.

Regional visits
