Circa Theatre welcomes our autistic, neurodivergent audience and Deaf, hard of hearing, blind and low vision community members to the audio described and relaxed combined performance of Give Way - The Musical. The show begins at 6.30pm on Wednesday 14 May, with a touch tour for blind and low vision patrons at 5.30pm.
Audio description for blind and low vision audience members will be provided by Amanda Baker.
Give Way – The
Musical is an award-winning satire of Kiwi attitudes. It tells the ‘unofficial’ story behind the
2012 change to New Zealand’s Give Way rule. Sophie – an idealistic young Ministry of Transport
employee with a secret admirer at the next desk – wants to change the world. She starts with the
country’s bizarre Give Way rule, knowing a change will make our roads safer. But she attracts a
groundswell of opposition in the form of a ‘Resistance’ protest movement, who believe Sophie’s
rule change will destroy the lives of decent, hard-working New Zealanders. What follows is a battle
for the nation’s soul. With sharp-witted songs and hard-case characters, this charming musical is
both entertaining and thought-provoking.
